Šis kūrinys yra miegančio menininko autoportretas, kviečiantis pažvelgti į pasąmonę kaip į erdvę, kurioje susilieja prisiminimai, baimės, traumos ir vidiniai išgyvenimai. Tamsiai violetinis fonas kuria paslaptingą, tarp sąmonės ir sapno egzistuojančią atmosferą, o ant figūros kūno išsibarsčiusios raudonos kibirkštys simbolizuoja emocinius randus, skausmą ir ne išgijusias patirtis. Iš figūros besidriekiančios gijos jungia sapnuose pasirodančius simbolius, kurių kiekvienas atspindi skirtingą psichologinę būseną. Sapne pasirodanti žuvis simbolizuoja priverstinį prisitaikymą prie aplinkybių ir gyvenimo tėkmės, kurios ne visuomet galima kontroliuoti. Kompoziciją užbaigia susisukusi paties menininko figūra.
